GOALMATE

A supportive habit building app designed to help busy adults stay consistent without pressure.

Overview

GOALMATE is a cross platform habit building app designed for adults aged 30–40 who struggle to balance work, family, and personal health.
The goal was to create a calm, intuitive system that supports daily routines, reduces cognitive load, and strengthens motivation through gentle social accountability.

This project was completed through multiple stages of research, ideation, prototyping, and high fidelity testing.

Problem

Adults in their 30s–40s often juggle intense schedules. During my user research, common challenges emerged

  1. Motivation drops when apps are overwhelming or send too many reminders

  2. Users want simple, customizable, and non pressuring habit trackers

  3. Sharing progress publicly feels stressful but sharing privately with close friends boosts accountability

Research Process

User Interviews (6 participants, aged 30–40)

I conducted semi structured interviews to understand routines, struggles, and expectations from habit apps.

  • Prefer clean, simple apps that require minimal actions

  • Want custom reminders that adapt to energy levels

  • Value progress visualisation (charts, weekly views)

  • Prefer private sharing with selected friends rather than public posting

  • Experience frustration when apps feel “too complex,” “rigid,” or send “overwhelming reminders”

What they struggle with.

  • Busy schedules

  • Burnout

  • Inconsistent routine

  • Apps that feel demanding

  • Too many reminders

  • Frustration when they fall behind
